What a funny day we had today

I have to share this story, what Emily put us through today. All at once her arm hurts. "Pupa, pupa", she kept saying ('give it a kiss'), at our house kisses on owies help a lot :-). Then I realize that it was her elbow that hurt, and soon she couldn't move her arm. It was getting worse every minute, so I call the Dr and tell her that she has a dislocated elbow. We get an appt an our later, and Emily spend this whole hour in bed not being able to move her arm. Anyway, the 2 of us leave to the Dr while Gordon and Jonathan stay home. I put her in the car and could hardly buckle her in, "ow, ow, ma doare!!!" (it hurts!)... Off we go, get to the clinick and I go to take her out of the car. She reaches to me with both arms, even shaking them, to get out of the car. I almost stopped her right arm to remind her that it hurts. "Doesn't your arm hurt?" -- "NO" (shaking both arms to me to take her out of the car quicker). ...Hmm, what was I supposed to do? Why are we going to the Dr? Well, anyway we went on and the nurse saw us first (it was the one i talked with on the phone, so she knew about our problem), Emily was positive that her elbow was ok, when the nurse asked her many times if it hurt while she was moving her arm. Then the nurse was nice and canceled the appt.
What was wrong with her elbow?... Don't ask me...

O mica povestioara despre peripetiile noastre de azi. Oricum, in sfarsit, plecam in sfarsit noi doua, iar Gordon si Jonathan raman acasa.

Hmmm...that sounds like GIRL DRAMA!!! Maybe she just wanted some "mama alone" time. :)

Oh good gracious!! I wouldn't chalk it up to drama though - why would she lay in bed for an hour in pain just for the sake of drama. When children can't communicate with us it's SO hard to know what is/isn't wrong. Who knows, maybe she banged her "funny bone" (which is a nerve that runs really shallow in the elbow) and it hurt/tingled really bad and scared her - usually the pain from that lasts only a few minutes, but the fear could've made it last longer ... Poor all of you! Hopefully that never happens again!

I'm going to guess a bumped elbow, too, to cause the "funny bone" pain. It is enough to cause adults to stop in their tracks from the sensation of the nerve being hit, it must be moreso for kids. I know Marissa has had the sensation before.

Actually this happened once before and the doctor fixed it with a simple motion. We were supposed to remember that motion, but we lost our confidence. Emily must have done something inadvertently to fix it herself in the car. I'm afraid it WILL happen again, since it seemed to happen so easily...
